Go to the cpanel
In the files pane of cpanel click on file manager then enable “show hidden files” select “Web Root” and click “Go”.
Create a directory below public_html with the name of your site. This name should be just letters with out spaces, dots etc. Later you can point to it with your chosen domain. You could install one site directly within public_html but this is not recommended. The subdirectory will be known as the “site directory” and its name relative to public_html as the “site name”. Your directory will then be visible as https://<your domain>/<site name>
Upload them to the site directory. These are the only two files that may be in the directory. Then rename installer.txt to installer.php.
Now go back to the cpanel where you will create an empty database, a database user name and password and will give that user full privileges on that database. So go the Databases pane of cpanel and:
- at the top of the form enter a name for the data base – it can conveniently be the same as your site name. Click the “Create Database” button and assuming successful click on “go back”.
- then go down to add a new user and provide a name which can also be the same as your site name. Click on “Password Generator”. As requested copy the password at least into the paste buffer, agree that you have copied it and click “Use Password” which takes you back to the previous page where you click on “Create a User” and then “Go Back”
- Add a user to the database by selecting the User and Database you have just created and click “Add”, then select “All Privileges” and click on “Make Changes” which should produce a pale green message and click “Go Back”. Your new user will appear in the table at the bottom. There is a “Set Password” action that can be performed on that user – which is useful if you forget the password before you get chance to use it!
- Note the prefix before the user and database names you requested.
Now use a web browser and got to https://<your domain>/<site name>/installer.php and select the box to accept that things may not go as planned ad click the blue “Next” button.
Now enter the database information for the database and database user you have just created. You just need to enter the full database name and user name in both cases including the prefix and the password. Click the blue button that says “Test Database“. If this goes wrong check that you have followed the instructions. Once you get a message that the connection is good then click next, and confirm that you are ready to go ahead. On the next screen you then change the title to suit and then click “Next“. It should then then go to a page with two buttons one to login to finalise the setup and one to show reports.
Look at the reports if you feel so inclined and then go to login. Enter usename and password (from the original site) and once logged in then click “Remove Installation Files Now“
There will be a warning from SEO that it is not yet configured.
